"America's Got Talent" Trailer

With the departure of Piers Morgan who wants to concentrate on his CNN talk show there was an empty spot on the "America's Got Talent" desk which has been filled by radio shock jock Howard Stern. Whatever you say about Howard Stern he is a smart guy and this season with him as host could be interesting and a nice addition to the judges table. I guess we will have to wait until May 14th when the wacky talent show "America's Got Talent" returns to NBC to judge the king of all medias judging skills.

The TNT Network has renewed its Los Angeles police drama "Southland" for a fourth season which is great for a show that was picked up by TNT after being cancelled by NBC in 2009. The show is well acted as well as having some of the best writing on cable so its nice to see it continue.

America’s Next Great Restaurant Comes To NBC

An interesting new reality series called “America’s Next Great Restaurant” is set to premiere on NBC on March 6th at 8pm right before the premiere of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” On this new show the contestants from different walks of life compete to see their original restaurant concept come to life. The four investors/judges for the restaurants are “Iron Chef America” Iron Chef Bobby Flay and television chef Curtis Stone from “The Biggest Loser” as well as Chipotle founder Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia and executive chef and restaurateur. This four not only serve as investors they also will mentor the competitors who they will be working with to further develop their concepts. Each week the contestants will be put through rigorous business and cooking challenges to determine which idea has what it takes to be “America’s Next Great Restaurant. After a nationwide search the top 21 competitors will present their restaurant concepts to the investors. The number will be quickly reduced to the top ten concepts that will compete over the season. Without seeing the show these are the picks we are making i guess we will have to wait until Sunday 6th March to see if these picks were a good or bad choice.

Keith Olbermann Leaves MSNBC

The fact that Keith Olbermann left MSNBC wasn’t really a surprise to me I had expected it but not as soon as it happened;  In the announcement it said that Keith Olbermann and MSNBC had ended their contract. At the end of last year Keith Olbermann was suspended for a couple of shows for making some campaign contributions and more recently it looked like he had been told to tone down the show with the pending purchase of NBC/Universal by cable giant Comcast. Most glaring of the changes was first the removal of his World’s Worst segment then it returning with a tag line above saying “Not Really.” Keith could retire but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up on Sirrus Satellite Radio or HBO only time will tell.

“The Biggest Loser” Returns Tonight On NBC

Tonight “The Biggest Loser” returns for its 11th season with Alison Sweeney again as the host of this reality show in which contestants compete to lose the most weight and win a cash prize with the help of trainers. In the first episode tonight the eleven family and friend two person teams immediately have to compete with each other in a 5k run on a treadmill; After they finish the contestants have to make a game changing decision in a new twist to the show as they have to either pick between current trainers to help them lose weight Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels or a new pair of trainers. The obvious choice would be to pick Bob and Jillian who have helped the contestants in the past and are known to the contestants but if they do they will be at a disadvantage because of this seasons twist. If they pick Bob and Jillian they will work out at the ranch if they pick the new trainers they will work out at a secret location. It’s interesting that five of the teams decide to go with the new trainers while six teams decide to stay at the ranch with Bob and Jillian. The twist is that the contestants that pick the new trainers get four weeks of immunity which is huge and the contestants that go with Bob and Jillian could go home after only one week. Long running reality shows have to have new twists to keep their audience coming back and this one is big and should be interesting to see how both teams react when they find out.

Season Premiere Tonight At 8/7c On NBC

“The Biggest Loser” now has its own show page on the right so you can keep up to date on the latest news.
