Is Charlie Coming Back To “Two And A Half Men?”

There are reports that Charlie Sheen is in talks with CBS about returning to the hit CBS comedy “Two And A Half Men.” After all the drama the last couple of months surrounding Charlie Sheen with his comments about the show’s producer Chuck Lorre and CBS as well as his lawsuit this may seem as strange move but with the money involved it’s not that surprising that they would at least talk. The talks could just be about a settlement but all sides would make lots of money if Charlie Sheen returned and the show continued to do well. There are reports that Charlie Sheen is in talks with FOX for a talk show but who knows where these talks will go.  Judging from Charlie Sheens rambling internet shows its unknown if he could continue to work on the show although in the past Charlie Sheen has been able to work on the show even with his partying lifestyle. Whatever has happened money tends to cure hurt feelings of the last few months so guess we will have to see if they get things worked out and if Charlie returns to the show next season.

One Of Russell’s Vixens Goes To Redemption Island

Last night’s “Survivor Redemption Island” had all the usual drama as what is being called by many Russell’s Vixens fought for survival as outsiders on their tribe. A interesting choice by their tribe was to let both so called ‘Russell’s Vixens’ Krista Klumpp and Stephanie Valencia go to watch the ‘Redemption Island Challenge.’ The tribe figured that both would be going home soon so what damage could they do which turned out to be a mistake. In the challenge Matt went up against Kristina Kell who was send there last week in tribal council. Matt won the challenge again for a third street win and Kristina Kell was sent packing. Russell’s Vixens then told Rob that there was a six person alliance on their team and they were both on the outside. The information and the fact they offered themselves if they survive until the merge to Rob’s alliance was big for Rob. Rob’s tribe then went out to win the ‘Immunity Challenge’ and Stephanie was blamed as she lost a head to head puzzle challenge with Rob the master of puzzles. At tribal council it looked like Stephanie would be going home but then Krista called out the alliance saying which members were closest to each other hoping to cause friction in the alliance. As the tribe votes were shown Krista was the one voted to be sent to Redemption Island I don’t know if her comments switched the vote from Stephanie I guess we will find out next week. The one person that I do want to go home is former Federal agent Phillip Sheppard who walks around in bright pink underwear he is wacky but if that visual was gone from the show it would be a plus.

Charlie Sheen Will Be Back But Will We Care

Charlie Sheen the recently let go star of "Two And A Half Men" is all over the internet and television right now doing interviews and video shows online. Over the last couple of weeks a US audience has been riveted with his unusual behavior and his catch phrases such as winning have gone main stream everywhere. Usually this kind of exposure even when negative helps an artist stay in the public limelight and helps them get future shows. The question right now is are people growing tired of this and is Charlie Sheen so overexposed its a negative? The traffic for his own only video show has dropped with every episode although he is still adding Twitter followers. There are reports that Mark Cuban has offered him a talk show on his HDNet channel which if Charlie Sheen could tone down his unusual behavior could do well but the problem for Charlie is the channel isn't viewed by a huge audience and a talk show on a bigger channel if he could get it would be much better for him. Charlie Sheen will return to television at some point the question is will another network or even big cable network be willing to take a risk on him my guess is if he tones it down he is too big of a star at this point for him not to return at some point plus American loves to give someone a second chance the question is just where and when?

Russell Leaves The Island

On last night’s “Survivor Redemption Island” super villain Russell Hantz finally left the island as he lost his Redemption Island challenge against Matt who won his second challenge in a row to stay in the game. The challenge was basically a big game of dominoes and in a sea saw battle Russell left the game on a challenge loss. After his loss Russell broke down in tears with emotion and said he will never play the game that’s it, which personally I think he would change his mind and be back if he had a chance. After an emotional few minutes the old Russell kicked in as he lashed out at his tribe tell the opposition the leaders in his tribe and getting Ralph to basically say he had an idol; Ralph tried to backtrack on his idol comment but it was too late no one believed he didn’t’ have it at that point. Russell will be missed by us at The Television Beat and we hope the fact his team threw the challenge to get him out comes back to bite them.

“Survivor Redemption Island” Wednesdays at 8pm e/p on CBS

Does “Two And A Half Men” Have A Future?

Now that Warner Brothers according to reports has dismissed Charlie Sheen from the hit CBS comedy “Two And A Half Men” will the show return next season? It’s always possible that Charlie Sheen and, the producers could come to some arrangement and continue the show although this looks very unlikely. Another option could be to cancel the show for good although with so much money and profits involved with this hit show for the producers as well as network that also seems unlikely. The most likely option at the moment seems to be a recasting of Charlie Sheen’s role in the show with people such as John Stamos being mentioned as a possible replacement. If the show did return with a new actor in Charlie Sheen’s role I’m sure the ratings at first would be good as the curious would tune in but the question is would they stick around each week?

"How I Met Your Mother" Renewed

CBS has announced that it has renewed its sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" for another two years which will take the show through the 2013 season which would be the shows eighth season. "How I Met Your Mother" has been solid in the ratings and with the drama around "Two And A Half Men" at the moment which may or may not return this seems a smart move.

Russell Is Gone Maybe On "Survivor"

On last nights "Survivor Redemption Island" Russells tribe Zapatera throw the challenge so they could get rid of him. For the first time ever Russell was voted off the island although he does have a chance to still get back in the game if he survives Redemption Island. I'm a big Russell fan and i would love to see him come back but it looks like the odds are against him. A more important discussion is why with only a two person advantage going in a future merge the tribe made the decision to throw the challenge to get rid of Russell. I don't think any tribe should throw a challenge and i can see in future seasons it may not be allowed as if teams regualrly throw challenges it cheapens the game. It will be interesting to see with Russell gone if the tribe is stronger apart from the two Russell allies who will now be outsiders. Before the anger was directed at Russell but with that lightning rod gone it will be interesting to see if the in fighting starts.

"Survivor Redemption Island" Premieres Tonight

Rob and Russell return tonight to battle it out with new contestants on the return of "Survivor" on CBS. This season they have added the Redemption Island twist where the voted off contestant goes heads to Redemption Island and lives on the same supplies as the others; When the next contestant is voted off they too head to Redemption Island and compete against the contestant already there with the loser going home. At a point later in the season towards the end the contestant on Redemption Island gets to re-enter the game which is an interesting twist. I think both teams will keep Rob and Russell around for a while but i would be surprised if they survive towards the end. Im pulling for Russell but as all the contestants on this season have seen him before anyone would be stupid to trust him but you never know.

Premieres tonight at 8pm on CBS

"Amazing Race" Returns February 20th

"The Amazing Race" returns to CBS on February 20th with an all star edition called Unfinished Business in which past contestants who didn't win compete again. All star editions are always interesting because in theory as the contestants have run the race before they shouldn't make the same mistakes but they often do.

Returns Sunday February 20th on CBS

"Survivor Redemption Island" Next Twist

When "Survivor" returns in early in the new year it will be with a new twist this version is called "Survivor Redemption Island;" The twist is that after a contestant is voted off they go to another island with supplies like the rest of the contestants until another contestant gets voted off; After another contestant gets voted off the two of them have a challenge where the winner will stay on Redemption Island and the other contestant will leave for good. At some point later in the game whoever is on Redemption Island will be allowed back in to the game to compete again. The person who was on the island will have a huge disadvantage as they would have missed connecting with the others during there time away also some of the people there maybe the ones that voted them off in the first place. Its an interesting twist i wonder how it effects the game i guess we will have to wait and see.

Two Quit On "Survivor"

The fact that someone quit isn't such a shocker to my memory two have quit in the past the big shock was two quit together at tribal council on day twenty eight. If you didn't see the last episode two of the players Naonka and purple Kelly decided they had enough of the rain and cold and quit. Jeff tried to talk them out of it and after they said they wouldn't change their mind he put out their torches but left then standing at tribal council so they would see them every time they came to watch as part of the jury. Earlier after Naonka said she would quit after winning the reward challenge Jeff gave the winning team a choice if one of them gave up the reward of candy, hot dogs and a movie the whole team would get a tarp and rice which they needed badly. Oh course Naonka just sat there even though she was leaving to let another member sacrifice reward for the team good. There have been  several villains over the years on "Survivor" such as Johnny Fairplay who lied about a dead relative and who can forget the original villain Richard Hatch but Naonka is in a class by herself and must be the most hated Survivor ever. Apart from her most recent antics there is such things as knocking amputee Kelly to the ground to get a clue and hiding the tribes tools and food which she eat. The worse part about the two of them quitting is that thousands apply for the show and never get the chance they got also the contestants voted out would love to be still competing.

"Guiding Light" To Be Replaced By People In Costumes

The soap opera Guiding Light will end its amazing five decade run this September 21st on CBS. There was lots of speculation what show would replace the long time icon would it be a talk show or would CBS hand the hour back to its stations. Well CBS has announced that a new version of the classic game show Lets Make A Deal with host Wayne Brady will take its place. The new version of the classic show will return to the daytime airwaves on Oct 5th with the shows original host Monty Hall as a consultant on this version. Several different game shows were said to be considered before Lets Make A Deal won out.

Sarah Accepts David's Apology

Alaska govenor Sarah Palin has finally accepted an apology from David Letterman after he apologized a second time for a joke he made about Sarah Palin's daughter on the Late Show. The joke was in poor taste granted but Sarah Palin has used it for political gain and, to keep her name in the spotlight. The New York Times is reporting that there is a protest planned for outside the Ed Sullivan Theater where David Letterman does the Late Show. There are also reports that Embassy Suites has pulled its ads from the CBS website because of the joke.

Petition To Save "My Name Is Earl"

NBC recently canceled there quirky comedy "My Name Is Earl" and now there is an online petition to save the show. The actor who plays Randy on the show Ethan Suplee has used his Twitter account to get people to follow the link and sign the petition to bring back the show. Petitions and protests to bring back shows rarely work although there has been some that have such as two CBS shows "Cagney and Lacey" and "Jericho." I just checked the amount of votes on the petition and, as of writing it was 53 not a huge number. There have been reports that the producers have been shopping the show around to other networks such as ABC and FOX; Out of the two FOX would be the best home for the show and it wil be interesting to see if they pick the show up so still a glimmer of hope for "My Name Is Earl Fans."

CBS Cancels Three Dramas

CBS has announced they have are canceling three dramas they are "The Unit," "11th Hour," and "Without A Trace." Also it looks like tv psychic Patricia Arquette is still employed as CBS has picked up her show "Medium" which NBC recently canceled. I enjoy "The Unit" but im sure its a very expensive show to produce so im not surprised in the current economic climate for a show with modest ratings it was canceled. Expensive dramas in general on network television could be getting harder and harder to find especially since NBC has turned over the 10pm nightly slot to Jay Leno but there is still a lot on network television.
