The Doctor Heads To America

Dr Who returns to American television screens with a new season on BBC America on April 23th at 9pm e/p with the usual drama as you can see from the preview. A interesting twist this time is the doctor will be visiting America which is a nice twist and most likely a nod to the large audience of Americans that watch the show.

"World News America" Heads To PBS

"World News America" is the nightly BBC news show that is based in the United States with anchors Matt Frei and often by BBC Washington correspondent Katty Kay. The show covers American news stories and shows a lot more international news than the nightly news shows on the networks. Up until now the show has been shown in the United States on BBC America every night as well as the BBC's other channels outside the United States on BBC World News and BBC News Channel but starting Monday the show moves to PBS in the United States. The move may be a good move for BBC America who can now use the timeslots for entertainment shows which may get higher ratings but the jury is out if the move will mean more or less viewers for the show. I hope the show does well as its nice to have an alternative viewpoint to the major networks news shows.

"TheTudors" Coming To BBC America

The Showtime historical drama about King Henry VIII and his live and wifes called the "The Tudors" is coming to BBC America on January 19th. "The Tudors" plays fast and loose with history but its a entertaining show and worth a watch. One concern is because of the show was originally a premium cable show is that some of the content will have to be cut to be able to show on basic cable the other concern is the addition of television commercials could dilute the show but i guess we will have to wait and see.

Whats The "Eurovision Song Contest?"

People outside Europe may not know what the "Eurovision Song Contest" is but it was recently held and broadcast all across Europe. "Eurovision Song Contest" is a program where an singer or band from each country competes against the other countries in Europe in a big television show with people from the various countries voting. Most of the entrants sing in English although some sing in their native languages. A few countries outside Europe are in the contest such as Israel which is strange but oh well. This years contest was held in Russia which seamed to spare no expense and, put on a great show. After the last contest long time English host Sir Terry Wogan quit after complaining about the voting system; Where countries seem to vote for their neighbor countries such in the last contest where Eastern block countries were said to have voted together for Russia which won. This year there was a new voting system and a new host on the English telecast Graham Norton. Part of the fun of the show would be Sir Terry Wogan making fun of some of the contestants right before they were shown but im sure Graham Norton was entertaining to watch. I wish this show was shown in the United States and other countries are you listening BBC America oh well. Anyway this years winner was from Norway and is a catchy song and the fact he is good looking im sure didnt hurt with some of the voters so click above to watch the video.
