Matthew Perry Returns To TV

"Friends" alum Matthew Perry returns to television in a new comedy series for ABC on February 9th called "Mr Sunshine." Matthew plays a self involved manager of a San Diego sports center where every day is more outrageous than the last. A show clip is with this post and i haven't see a screener yet only clips so it tough to judge the shows potential although past "Friends" alum shows have struggled.

Premieres February 9th at 9:30 E/P On ABC

"Nightline" To Get Shorter

Starting on February 4th ABC's "Nightline" is to end at midnight instead of its current end time of 12:05am with the extra five minutes going to an extended "Jimmy Kimmel Live." This makes sense and with the announced prime time specials for"Nightline" hopefully shouldn't hurt the show. For years there has been rumors about "Nightline" being cancelled so that "Jimmy Kimmel can go head to head with Jay Leno and David Letterman hopefully this doesn't come to past as "Nightline" a good show.

ABC Moves Veteran Soaps Around

Over the last few years the onetime ratings powerhouse daytime soap operas have suffered amid declining ratings which has caused cast cuts. The biggest example of the problems on the soaps is when CBS canceled the long running soap opera Guiding Light after 72 years. Now ABC is making some moves concerning its soap but at the moment is not canceling any instead it is switching locations for their filming. In the cost cutting shuffle All My Children will move from its current home in Los Angeles to New York in a studio complex double the size of its current home. One Life To Live will also move from New York in to Los Angeles in to All My Childrens space which is 30 percent larger than its current home. The move to New York of All My Children means also the show will also be able to start broadcasting in HD. There are reports that ABC is working with Alisha Tyler on a pilot which could replace one of the soaps so the future in soap opera land isnt rosey. If i had to make a prediction i would say that the future of One Life To Live may not be certain.

Susan Boyle To Guest On US Show?

The Sun newspaper in England is reporting that Britains Got Talent runner up and, You Tube star Susan Boyle is going to guest star on Ugly Betty on ABC. This follows up recent reports that Susan Boyle would be on the season finale of America's Got Talent which would make sense but hasn't been confirmed yet. A spokesman for Susan Boyle has said that "Susan has many offers on the table at the moment" which isn't a denial but im sure its true that many US shows would want her on. Previous famous guest stars on Ugly Betty include Lindsey Lohan, James Van Der Beek, Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham.

Petition To Save "My Name Is Earl"

NBC recently canceled there quirky comedy "My Name Is Earl" and now there is an online petition to save the show. The actor who plays Randy on the show Ethan Suplee has used his Twitter account to get people to follow the link and sign the petition to bring back the show. Petitions and protests to bring back shows rarely work although there has been some that have such as two CBS shows "Cagney and Lacey" and "Jericho." I just checked the amount of votes on the petition and, as of writing it was 53 not a huge number. There have been reports that the producers have been shopping the show around to other networks such as ABC and FOX; Out of the two FOX would be the best home for the show and it wil be interesting to see if they pick the show up so still a glimmer of hope for "My Name Is Earl Fans."

NBC Finally Cancels "My Name Is Earl"

For months there has been speculation over the future of the NBC comedy "My Name Is Earl" and, if it would return in the fall. The quirky comedy has a loyal following although not enough to save it as NBC has announced that the show wil not return this fall. For fans off the show there is still a slight chance for the show as there are reports that the shows producers are talking to ABC and FOX about picking up the show. A good fit in my opinion for the show would be on FOX who has had several quirky comedies such as "Arrested Development" other the last few years.

Several ABC Shows Not Returning In Fall

ABC has axed several shows and they won't return in the fall they include "According To Jim," "Pushing Daisies," "Life On Mars," "Eli Stone," as well as "Dirty Sexy Money." Im amazed "According To Jim" was still on the air and i guess calling your show "Dirty Sexy Money" to draw attention didn't work.

Is "Ugly Betty" Heading For Its Last Season?

When "Ugly Betty" returns for its new season in the fall it will do so on a new night, Friday nights. Friday nights are a night with low viewership and will be at 9pm after "Supernanny" and before "20/20." "Ugly Betty" was a one time top show but its ratings for its current third season have slipped 16 percent and with the new night things dont look great for this show.
